Christmas Windows Tribute

After all, windows are our thing.

Short videos on wonderful Christmas window displays and how to create some remarkable effects in your own window.

An impressive amount of creative energy goes into the production of the Christmas windows in the commercial sector every year. Macy’s of New York City is home to one of the city’s most famous holiday window displays. It’s tradition for Macy’s to features two series of window displays, one set depicting scenes from the classic Christmas film Miracle on 34th Street and another set that is chosen each year. They debut in early November in time for American Thanksgiving. We located a couple short videos of the Macey’s Christmas windows in 2010 and 2011 accompanied by music (in other words they are not laced with painful, amateur narration). Take a look at these truly remarkable displays.

Here’s a short video on the production process of a store front Christmas window in fast motion.

Rear Projection Santa in Your Window

Now this is really cool! You can project images onto your windows at home that make it look like Santa is working away inside. The projectors show the picture on the window so that passers by can watch Santa in action.

You would think that this might require some sophisticated machinery, but actually you can accomplish this with some pretty mundane equipment, like a projector and a bed sheet.

This video shows you how to show Santa videos on your windows.
