Home Remodeling Trends for 2019
Polar Windows came across a survey that said more than 1/3 of homeowners have plans to renovate within the next 2 years.
Nine out of 10 participants indicated plans for a home remodel during some point, according to a survey from Internet real estate service Trulia. Also, almost 40 percent of these homeowners have plans to remodel in the next 2 years, according to The Mortgage Reports.
Homeowners who are younger are more than likely to want to renovate, with 92 percent of participants saying they have plans to do so sometime in the future. Only 81 percent of participants 65 and up have plan to remodel.
Budget-wise, nearly 50% have plans to spend $5,000 or under on their renovation projects. An additional 20 percent of participants expect to spend $10,000+. The majority of homeowners are setting their sights upon the bathroom or kitchen. Around 1/3 want to remodel their bedroom, and 27 percent want to renovate their living space.
So, are you making preparations to do a bit of remodeling in 2019? If you are wondering what you may see as you browse ideas, here are some home remodeling trends for 2019 which have gotten some attention.
Home Remodeling Trends
- Interesting ceilings
- Light wood floors
- Indoor plants
- Cozy area
- Homemade and natural accent pieces
- Clean lines
In recent times, Shaker style topped the popularity chart. Some people’s favorite options have been dominated by the clean lines and uncomplicated design. It’d seem a minimalist trend might take it one step further by simplifying décor, design, and decreasing clutter. The style exemplifies subdued, simple, and plain tones.
One other notable trend involves creating a cozy, comfortable space for unwinding and relaxing. Decorating it using handmade accent pieces provides a personalized touch. Going green using houseplants adds a pop of color and a natural feel.
Ceilings and floors receive an update, as well. Lighter toned floors get some love over the darker hues and greys of past times. Plus, ceilings get an opportunity to be within the spotlight. Consider adding shiplap, decorative molding, and more for detail and interest.
Bathroom and Kitchen
- Black inside the bathroom
- Colorful appliances
- No upper cabinetry
- Color inside the kitchen
White kitchens, while very popular, might take a back seat to more colorful cabinets. We have seen people like the chance to choose a custom finish or color while remodeling the kitchen. Also noted for 2019 is open shelves. However, the verdict is still out on this one.
What color is trending for 2019? The selections are many, yet a few highlights:
- Light grays, earth tones, and reds will be popular
- Bold, rich colors blended with a white backdrop
- Metallic and gold finishes
- Matte black rather than grey
Trends are good for ideas and to consider something you might not have thought about. However, keep in mind: it is your house and your remodel; therefore, be certain that you pick what you actually love!
