The Greener Homes Grant is an initiative by the Government of Canada to help homeowners make their homes more energy-efficient, by providing rebates up to $5,000 for new window installations that meet the Greener Homes energy standards. About the Grant

Natural Resources Canada has committed to help homeowners improve their home energy efficiency by providing up to 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 to help homeowners make energy-efficient improvements to their homes, supported by an EnerGuide evaluation.

This initiative will complement existing provincial and municipal energy-efficiency programs and is in effect for eligible retrofits completed after December 1, 2020, through until March 2028.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All products must be purchased in Canada.
  • Maintain the ENERGY STAR labels on your windows and doors until after your post-retrofit evaluation.
  • A new window unit can be inserted into the existing frame of an old window, but replacements of only the glass, sash or door without a frame are not eligible.
  • A maximum of $250 per rough opening, up to $5000.

Replacement Windows Rebates

$125 per Window

Replace windows or sliding glass doors with ENERGY STAR certified models.

$250 per Window

Replace windows or sliding glass doors with ENERGY STAR Most Efficient certified models.

$125 per Window

Replace hinged doors, with or without sidelites or transoms, with ENERGY STAR certified models.

Schedule an EnerGuide evaluation.

Complete at least one energy-efficient retrofit that is both eligible and recommended by the energy advisor in their report to qualify for cost reimbursement of up to $600 for the pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations.

Submit your receipts and forms for reimbursement and track payment.
